6229 Duchess of Hamilton. She's just been rebuilt from her non-streamlined form and placed on display a the NRM, hopefully in a decade or so they'll get around to 'steaming her.
Kind regards
John

That, is incredibly beautiful -- Many years ago, in a land far far away - our family owned a beautiful set of encyclopedias and she was featured in a coloured line drawing emerging from a tunnel.

The colour 'plates' prinyed on side only in theose books and similar were always magical.
I used to have jigsaw puzzles in a similar vein as colou photograhs cojuld not be reproduced in those days so specially drawn pictures were produced
I can sit for hours lokking at such stuff.
Liners, airliners and Locomotives seemed the favourite subjects, perhaps to emphasise the bright new post war mavels. :tab:

Think I'll be popping down to the NRM tomorrow to take a peek! It's amazing how easy it is to overlook these things when you're right on the doorstep, so to speak.

Lovely piece of engineering, shame about the colour. Blue and silver is far preferable!

If your going there you might look in on 55002 which is being worked on by a small team of volunteers, & restored to working order. (Flying Scotsman exhibition I think)

According to my mate Ian (big Train & Bus nutter etc.) the bloke that painted the coach lines during the restoration came out of retirement just to do it for them (He apparently did her in the past when he was a young apprentice or somthing). Ian says the gent is now teaching his son the art, so its not lost. Someone buy them a pint if they meet them...they deserve it. CHEERS
