Hi guys,

Well things work wise could'nt be better at the moment. Currently on a six month attachment to Manchester International Airport and having recently completed a two day airport driving and manouvre course, I have finally been allowed loose on the airfield.

I am here till December which enables me to do the job I love and patrol amongst all things aviation.

Its been quiet workwise today which enabled me to take some snaps of the aircraft, including one or two unusual visitors.

How on earth did you manage to get that cushy little number Eddie? :o

Brilliant photos, now there will be no excuse for missing the 10s' when they come visiting.

Regards
Nigel

Hi Nigel,

well the airport occassionally look for outside staff to come and experience things from their point of view.

The unit I work on decided to put out an advert for a one for one six month swap.

Therefore a chap from the airport has gone to my department and I have gone to the airport.

The thing is..

I don't wanna go back!!

Hi Garry,

Cheers..

I doubt it to be honest as I technically am assigned to another department. And so is the other fella.

In the good old days, if both parties wanted to stay in their new posts then it would be authorised.

These days however, everything is a little more official and needs to go through the proper channels (ie wrtten application/selection process etc..)

I may ask for an extention though...til, lets see,...2030!? :)

At least with this experience it should make it easier to transfer in the future :)

Absolutely. Thats the main reason for the attachment to be honest.

It certainly won't do my application any harm.

And of course its very different to what I am used to.

I chose the summer months simply because its the busiest time for the Airport and there's plenty to experience.

Winters can be quiet and a little grim.

Being out in the open its also great for wildlife, seen quite a bit including: (Millions of)Rabbits, Foxes, Badgers, Kestrels, Buzzards and even a cheeky little oystercatcher wandering around the apron.
