Perfect landing. They're just venting gas at the moment. Always good to watch, especially the track from over the Pacific.. a little like FS on high compression

I still think that it's odd that my this time next year the fleet are likely to become museum pieces :-(

Kind regards

John

John,

I think there are three more ISS missions at least to complete and the shuttles are really pushed to extend their life further...If shuttles were built today then they would probably use different technology for the re-entry protection and probably another different technology for the insulative coating of that massive fuel tank for the launch. The missions now have huge surveys to carry out on the tiles etc. before they are happy to proceed to re-entry...They are all getting old and tired and stretched to the limits.

I feel comfortable with the thought of their honourable retirement and look forward to whatever comes next :)
