The SS Nomadic was a tender which served in Cherbourg for liners such as Olympic, Titanic, Queen Mary, etc.

Indeed Brian

Along with the "Traffic" she was actually built for the new Olmpic class liners.

Amazing modelling

Lovely model. The nomadic is now back in Belfast, being restored I believe.

She had been in use as some sort of floating thingy in France and I heard she was going back home for a restoration.

I have heard it said that there is no one in this World that can tell an Englishman about building ships...except perhaps an Ulsterman or Scot. :) :worried: :-#

I think the Englishmen on the Tyne may have a word or two to add to that ;-)

The French probably could ! The best ships I ever sailed on were all French designed and built, and its something that goes back to the 18th century. Even then, French prizes pressed into Royal Navy service were very highly regarded.
