Classic British Flight Sim

PAD Premier Aircraft Design have just released the freeware Viking DHC6-400 - basically a Twin Otter with a glass cockpit built by Viking in British Columbia. It comes with the livery of the first customer, Zimex Aviation, and three fictional liveries including a Loganair/BA livery.

Generally, I like the PAD models although I think that the Twin Otter looks a bit edgy. As it is freeware, I shall not complain

Viking Air now hold production rights for all DHC aircraft up to and including the Dash 7. Will be interesting to see what they make out of it. Orders for the Twin Otter NG seem to be pretty decent.

There was an AVWEB video article made at Sun'N'Fun with the guys from Viking, and from the sounds of it, we may see the Beaver and Otter back in production before long as they have a strong customer base and several operators looking for replacement aircraft (as the airframes available for Kenmore restoration are becoming thin and they are still very much relevant aircraft in the Northwest and the Tundra/Bush areas). It would be interesting to see what they can do with the DHC-7 airframe or the Buffalo/Caribou if there's enough demand.

The Beaver and Otter would be a good thing, they still work very hard in both land and float versions

I doubt the Dash Seven will ever get produced again. DHC put it out production when it could still sell it as wilth all the high lift devices etc it was costing too much to produce and they were losing money on every one sold.
The Dash Eight also took a large chunk of the Sevens market as it did the job four much less cost.

PAD needs to work on its gauge assignments a bit. especially on the engine management system screens . :think:
