Hi Nigel
I can't recall ever seeing a Double Mamba soundset though there may be one out there. Can't recall having a Gannet I liked enough to spend any time in either

Wouldn't we all.
I'm hoping at some stage the repairs to the Elvington (York) example might allow a real sound set to come forwards, but money/time/manpower/etc all play a hand in these hopes.
The last time I was there - a few years ago, they had aquired the front prop & work on the engine/s seemed to be going on, but if thats "broken", then no Double Mamba sounds from there.

Yo Bob
Is the Gannet you have there G-BMYP???
I saw that years ago at Carlisle when it was still supposedly airworthy but I don't think it was still flying, not regular anyway :-(

Sadly the Elvington Gannet has quite often been tucked at the back of the exhibits in the main hangar over winter, there just isn't enough space to arrange everything properly and I think they are looking to build a brand new display hangar. Now summer is here and some of the aircraft have been moved outside it's much easier to appreciate the Gannet in all of its glory.
It's a crying shame no-one is developing a Gannet for FS, it's such a unique aircraft.

I believe so. Just done a serach on the caa website
http://www.caa.co.uk/application.aspx?c ... 65&appid=1 & it links to a picture of the York one. There have been several owners, (not quiet one careful female driver), the last of whome is shown as 'gone away'
I thought I had more than 2 useable pictures (out of 2 picturesin total

), so here there are. One has been cropped to give a better view of the prop & engine.

Ain't she sweet...
I'll join the crowd in singing the Gannet's praises... and until somebody develops a new one, I'm happy with Mr. Ito's... I just love watching the wings fold! It's like the aircraft wraps itself up to be put to bed...

Now I do know where a soundset is, somewhere in my archives as I was the one developing it. It was due to go on an AS Gannet as I remember, that never materialised. Let me have a dig through my CD's and see if it ever got turned into a proper soundset or if it is still half done.
