The gondola's a bit elaborate for that there balloon I think.
Surely a fleet of AN225's with their internal capacity might be more aerodynamic - but may be lacking in the speed department.

I did quick Google using parts of the pic title and got nowhere
I thought it was typically Russian in the way that it looked totally naff yet strangely facsinating.
I saw the Burran atop the AN-225 at Paris in 1989 and it was impressive to say the least
