Hello guys, I was wondering if the DM Sim C1K has working wingtip probes? I know they dont actually refuel, but do they extend? Thanks from a Yank... ;-)

Welcome!
Not quite wingtip tanks - but the drogues do activate via the tailhook key.

Thank you much! And also, I will get around to trying this in a few, but if one is connected to a multiplayer session, will an action such as extending the drogues be able to be seen by the other players?

Hi n8452h..
I don't think so. It's been a while since I've done that sort of thing but I think the scenario will be that you can see the hoses extended but the other MP'ers won't.

Indeed Dave you're correct.
AFAIK, what can be seen by other players online (depending on the server) has to be an 'effect' so lights, smoke etc can all be seen but things like drogues and hoses cannot.
That said, just to blow myself out of the water completely, you can see landing gear and flaps extending and retracting....

Hiya Dave
I think the reason for that is they're actual modelled parts (animated) rather than a 'now you see it.. now you don't' addon.. if that makes sense. I can't remember the technical explanation but there IS one

In which case Dave.... could however Thomas Ruth has done his new MRTT hoses be the answer???
I've not yet had the chance to try this one out but here's the theory...
The new Thomas Ruth A330 MRTT (available from the usual download sites, but sadly only as yet in the RAAF scheme) has the hoses and drogue extending and retracting as animations. I could be wrong about this, but from what I understand, the reason that nobody can see hoses online is due to the fact that they are modelled as "now you see them, now you don't" additions to aircraft.
As the hoses etc on the MRTT are animations, the same as landing gear, flaps, spoilers etc, to my mind, they COULD be seen by others when online.
I'm happy for this theory to be proven wrong, and would be just as delighted if one of the painters out there could find spare time to come up with an RAF scheme, if such a thing yet exists for reference material?
ATB,
Dave.

Hi Dave
That's pretty much as I understand it too ;-) I'm sure that someone has already done an RAF livery for the 330 but not sure if it was for this particular model

Multiple ones have been done. I know UKFS's Tranquil's has done at least two (plus I've asked him to do one for the Thomas Ruth model).
