What do you use to create .pdf documents ?

This is flight sim related, because I want to produce some printer-friendly versions of payware manuals. These manuals have background images which consume a lot of ink, and if I could copy and paste the text to a blank sheet of paper, it would save me time and money.
I've found a number of free PDF writers on the web, including one by Cute, so I'm going to have a play around with it.
Does anyone here create PDFs ? What software do you use ?
Thanks in advance

If you have the latest version of Office you can download a module to 'save as' pdf from MS for nada which is what I've used in the past, if only because it means I can save identical copies in pdf and doc formats.

Yeh.. as if!
I use Foxit Paul though to be honest, I've never tried writing a pdf with it (never had cause to).. which aint a lotta good I know. It's on a pc not turned on at the mo so I'll have a looksee when I get time later ;-) As far as reading pdf's is concerned.. it's about a quarter of the size of Adobe Reader and 4 times as fast

CutePdf , nothing more nothing less, installs as a virtual printer, and can't be made any easier...

Open Office has a PDF writer built into it and is free. I use that when making PDF text documents (I gave up using MS Office a long time ago). I also have an older version of the full Adobe Acrobat which includes 'Distiller' which is Adobe's own PDF writer.

Thanks chaps, loads of good info here. I've spent most of the day making an A5 size Word manual for the Vulcan, and cutting down on some of the graphics. Also made it with mirror gutter margins so it can be printed on both sides with room for A5 ring binder holes. I used CutePDF to convert it to PDF, and it worked very well. Still a lot to do, but its something I want to do to all the FS manuals I have, including the Captainsim C-130.
I'm going to look into Open Office too.
And maybe visit Tony's missus.

Primopdf works fine too,
http://www.primopdf.com - the latest version is handy when dumping webpages as it makes sure that any characters in the file name are legal.
