Auster into a Mystery Strip...

I've often noticed a strange strip, close to McLeland Field...I've usually seen it from the downwind leg. The weather today was not really nice enough to go far in the Auster so I thought I would pop over and land on it:-

There is the strip...It took me a while to spot it in this weather.

Yep! seems fine...But Hey! Who put that car there (it is nothing to do with me).

HI Peter
Despite the horrendous conditions (2 mile vis now) I went for a wee look - yes, the Mazda is there in my installation. Can't think what it represents tho!

Jim,
I think it is just a little Easter Egg...Holger just saying "Yeah, I know this strip is here".
Well done for finding it in the conditions...Really grotty!...I've just had it running since I landed the Auster and have been watching the Traffic :flying:

Well, I don't know how you saw it to begin with Peter!
It's not too hard to pick out with the winter textures... have you noticed it in summer conditions?

I've noticed that little strip but never actually bothered landing there. Probably because every time I've been flying low over it I've been in something not really meant for VSTOL

I know what you mean Jonesey...Most times I've spotted it from Echo!
Jim, yes I think it is more visible in times other than winter and as you probably know, in FS9 the snow actually lays so when it is actually snowing it is even harder to spot :flying:

Wait a minute...... a 'shady' airstrip near PAMA.... Peter out in an aircraft type known to be handy for bootlegging..... is this mere coincidence?
Could there be some cross border flying with this aircraft I wonder? Is that Jonesey I see in the pickup?

Jonesy -- and Pete
Apparently the Curtis Robin was the aircraft of choice for Bootleggers from Canada to the US in prohibition or at least
thats what an old party at Oshkosh told us one year, never figured if he was the legger or the legee though
