VRS Super Hornet

I know this won't be most people's cup of tea here, and it's not something I would usually go for myself, but I read some very positive comments about this aircraft and thought I would give it a try.

Put simply, it's fantastic. Imagine if PMDG or Level-D did a modern military jet, and you get an idea of what's on offer here. VRS have modelled the F/A-18E in excruciating detail, and implemented the only true fly-by-wire flight model in the FS world. This isn't the psuedo-FBW that PSS or FeelThere put into their Airbuses, or Aerosoft into their new F-16, this is the real deal. They've even implemented a system where you can actually use the weapons on the aircraft as well. Finally you can lock onto AI aircraft with your fully modelled radar and shoot them down, and the VOR stations in the FS world are used to simulate hostile air defences which you can also attack. I'm away from home at the moment and don't have a joystick with me so I haven't had a chance to properly fly this thing, but I have perused the manuals and it's bloody impressive.

What's even more extraordinary is this is VRS' first product, and VRS consists of just two blokes - one chap is an American programmer who used to work for Graphsim (the fans of military sims here will remember their series of Hornet flight sims back in the day) and the other chap is an aeronautical engineer from Spain who works for EADS.

Currently FS9 only, but an FSX version is in the works. As I said, not everyone's cup of tea I know, but it certainly is a very impressive addon that is worth a look if you are interested in modern military jets.

I also got the VRS SuperBug and I have to say there is nothing like it. Normally I do fly that type of aircraft too much, but I thought I would give it a try, and it is very impressive. I never knew FS9 could do so much.

I've got a long way to go to figure out all the features.

First of all many thanks to Pielstick, for submitting your post about the VRS FA18E, I had never heard of Vertical Reality Simulations, I have now and I have downloded and installed the aircraft on my FS9 Flight Sim, I have to say i am very impressed, I also have to say i have'nt a clue how to fly it, however i felt exactly the same when I first installed the PMDG 747 and the Level D 767, it was when Pielstick wrote on his post that this model was to the same standard, I just had to have a go. I have read through the very comprehensive documentation, although this is a complicated simulation I feel confident I can get my head round it, all documentation is explained in a very clear way, they assume the person who is about to fly their aircraft as limited experience, so all is explained in nice easy steps, I for one am extremely pleased for although I have achieved a reasonable competance in Flt Sim I am far from being an expert. Last but not least its for FS9, the user friendly Sim, I have nothing against FSX I have the Level D and PMDG models and i dare say i will get the VRS when released in FSX, but good old FS9 will always be my favourite.
