Horizon Gen X Ver 2

Well....this one has me stumped.... :dunno:

Just loaded Vol 1 (Southern England) of the above software....4 DVD's worth and 45 mins to install. Fired up FSX and all I see is the default M$ scenery....set to Winter so I know by the brown colour that this is M$ stuff.

Went to scenery library and sure enough the Gen X stuff is there all right priority 1-9 and enabled....so disabled then re-enabled....still no scenery.....Rebooted the PC still the same :dunno:

Image

Installed on the same HD as FSX (extra 25 gig or so!) opted for 1.2 resolution plus night lighting......nothing at all.

Joined the support forum after registering the product and got an automated response telling me that I cannot post any questions UNTIL a 'moderater' approves me..... :@ :@ :@ ....whenever THAT may be........ :brick:

Any clues out there.....been fiddling for a couple of hours now and getting a bit fed up to say the least......had the 3 Vols for Crimble...so far not impressed....

Regards.

Hi Brian,

Have you open the folders and checked the files are there on the HD?

Is FSX in the default location on the C drive?

You could try deleting the entries, then adding them back in manually. :dunno:

Hi Dave....FSX is on it' own dedicated drive (external 250gb USB...no option as other HD all in use) Installed Gen X in it's own folder on the same drive and all files are thre (25gb)....in the scenery library, I double click each entry and the correct path shows up.... :dunno:

Hope it is not an 'Acceleration' issue.... :-(

Shouldn't be a problem with Acceleration. I use GenX with Accel

Deleted areas in scenery library.....moved the files into FSX root (still in Gen X folder)....added all the areas manually still keeping the priorities 1-9 and on the ground I see the new scenery.....GOOD NEWS....however, as I climb out in the EH101....the Horizon Scenery is overwritten by the M$ Brown Winter textures..... :-(

Scenery settings are as advised in the Horizon booklet...... :dunno:

Looks like something is amiss with the install maybe.....?

Hi Folks

BB -
You need to revisit the manual.

Mandatory - 2.4m Photo

Optional - 1.2m Photo
Optional - 2.4m Night

The 2.4m Photo is the 'base set' and contains the MIPs.

You were bang on there Paul......thanks for that  I was tearing my hair out.......

I read the bit where there was the default low spec 2.4 scenery or if your machine could handle it then opt for the 1.2 which I duly did.....this was all written on page 7.....however at the bottom of page 8, there was a note..... :$ You guessed it...and you were right Paul..... :welldone:

My lesson for the day..... RTFM

Still waiting for acceptance to their Forum BTW....not good for paying customers.....no access to the help when I needed it most.....still thank goodness for our forums ;-)
