Classic British Flight Sim

Hello all,

Having for some silly reason lost all interest for a while in the sim, I this week did something that I should have done ages ago and purchased the Flightzone 02 Portland scenery. Wow, I know I talked about it in the past, but I hooked my PC up to Dads internet connection on Sunday and havent done much since!!

Everything seems to be ok and using my Traffic 2005 software have airliners and the odd GA going about their business, but have thought it could be a little bit more realistic, but adding other types. This evening I purchased the HTAI Cessna package, but am having problems with it, as none of the aircraft have a .cfg file and so I cant seem to use them as AI. Same goes for a few MAIW packages too. I've just had a little read on the net and it seems (but then I might be wrong) that the Cessnas do have .cfg files, so what am I doing wrong?

Also noted that when installed a few F-15Cs and F-22s at Portland they parked themselves outside the bizjet area and not on the ANG parking area. Is that just down to the AFCAD files. As most of you know I'm not that good with Ttools (preferring the Traffic 2005 editor), but after my Old Warden episode, I might have to get to grips with the software again.

I look forward to your comments re the missing .cfg files.

Hi Martin..

I have the superb HTAI Cessna package and all of my aircraft have a cfg file so I'm not sure what has happened. Presuming it's the same pack (from the 120 to the P210).. you won't see them available in 'Select Aircraft' as they're proper AI aircraft and as such, are not accessible from the drop down menu. However, you should see each one with all available paints in your aircraft folder. Without a cfg file, flightsim won't load any aircraft as far as I'm aware as it can't see it.

Something is definately not right with the download mate :think:

Regarding parking.. those areas have to be defined in the afcad Martin and if they're not, your F16's will take the nearest to what is set in the aircraft.cfg

Thanks for the reply. I just re-installed the package and guess what the .cfg files have appeared. Will now try a little test flight at Portland to see if everything is ok and will report back tomorrow night. Will then try and sort out the military traffic and possibly find the missing MAIW cfgs at the same time.

Rgr that Portland is a rather nice airfield isn't it.. one of the many 'Must Have' even if you don't fly there often ;-)

Everything seems to be ok now (just got to try and figure out what to change to get the fighters to go to the pan - had a look at the AFCAD and it states that they are all F-15As so perhaps need to change something in the .cfgs to reflect that). Tried a few flighplans in the local area tonight and they seem to work well, so will try and populate the area with appropriate American AI this weekend. What with the weather, dont think will be doing much else!!

I've spent the last couple of days poodling around Old Warden and I'm convinced it's now the busiest airfield on my system Noticed a problem with my 7L paint of the SU Hurricane on an early morning takeoff. Suddenly.. the sky was alight with gunfire The darned thing uses the same fx light as the landing lights which at night/early morning turns into cannon fire Remmed out the offending cannons/machine guns and all is well ;-)
I must take some time out to make a proper traffic file for it rather than have something in the air all day long!
