NorCal Prop Club

Seeing as this bunch of f***tards has taken it upon themselves to host a version of the Wyvern that lacks the gauge code and bombs, because they just zipped up the aircraft folder rather than use the installer I helpfully provided, I was wondering if anyone has had any success getting files taken off their website? Incidentally I notice they've got Dave G's Beaufighter their as well.

No luck so far. My Beau is in the same state as the Wyvern, bits missing all over :@ :'(
Despite the fact they've uploaded it without permission, why the hell can't they leave it in one piece :dunno:

Complain to Paypal -
Potentially taking money for your copyright items.

If you know they're actually hosting your stuff on their site -
Complain to webs, (parent of freewebs.com).
They've a fairly stringent copyright abuse policy.

Hmm, think in that case I'll take it direct to Webs.com and see if I get any joy from them.

Also just read an interesting bit in the SimGameIt February Newsletter*
There will be many new aircraft popping up in the unmodded section of our downloads. SimGameIt recognizes that not everyone wants to fly modded aircraft and in its initial spirit wants to make decent aircraft installable for ease to the Flight Sim Community. The only aircraft that will be considered for addition must be of decent quality and have a working 3D cockpit. We feel it is important to lead by example and promoting "junk" or aircraft that causes crashing or other issues is something we simply will not do. We also have aircraft slated for modification for those like like to fly in an extreme manner. We have met some opposition once again for what we do and we have put a poll on our webpage to get your input. Rightfully so you are what matters and not selfish aircraft designers so please take the time to participate in the poll. It is much appreciated. Also note that reguardless of what the aircraft designers opinions are what we do is 100% compliant with copyright laws. We do not take claim to making the aircraft and in no way do we try to profit from said aircraft unlike sites like simviation and others that charge for memberships or faster download rates. I find it humorous that certain designers want to attack us for making things easier for you (ie: self installers) yet they have no problem in others making a profit from the aircraft they worked so hard on. Nevertheless we arent going anywhere and there will be many more to come so enjoy. If you know of an aircraft worthy of our time. Decent in quality and with a 3D cockpit and would like to see it in a self installer on our site please email me at [email protected] and please include a link where it can be downloaded. I cannot promise all requests will be granted but i will do my best.
*I signed up to 'spy' on them.

Getting "Page not found" on the link from the Clemencau site, maybe someone has prodded them ??

The Wyvern link on the Clemencau site leads to the correct download location for the full installer.

Hi Folks

Re: NorCal Prop Club
Another, hopefully more effective, avenue for you to pursue.

You might want to propogate the info to other developers,
so that a coordinated action can be pursued.

It probably won't have any long-term effect,
as they'll relocate their downloads,
but it'll certainly disrupt their activities short-term.

As of January 27, 2009 NorCal requires membership/login to access the files.

I haven't signed up,
but used a Google search on flyingboats OR singlepropplanes OR multiprop site:www.freewebs.com/wreckerman

In the results list
if you click on the various Cached links
you can see the old download pages and links to planes therein.
e.g. NorCal's Flying Boats

On that page, and all the others,
if you look at the download links
they're all hosted on http://dyuxpw.blu.livefilestore.com/

dyuxpw.blu equates to a user account.

That doesn't by itself give you access to anything directly.
and livefilestore.com also just gives you a blank page.

However,
on checking WhoIs - Domain Name: livefilestore.com
it turns out that the file hosting service is actually the game's creator
as it's the backend for Microsoft's Windows Live SkyDrive

i.e. Windows Live is truly killing Flight-Sim. ;-)

Visit the skydrive.live.com signup page
See the links to Report Abuse and Code of Conduct on there.

Paul,

Thanks for that, I've reported the abuse via the site so I'll let you know if anything happens. I actually signed up to the NorCal site to check what was there and what they'd done to the files.
