Over at the Pond, There are two aircraft now in beta test for those who prefer REALLY classic British Aircraft
Both will be available for FS9 and FSX and presonally I think they are both the good.
First Paul Gausden (Decapod) has been working on the BA Swallow for a while as a tutorial in building in FS9/FSX
Here are a couple of his screenies
And of course Dave Molyneaux's Short Scion is now in Beta , this screenie is of a repaint by Pete Watkins for one of the Australian ones
Hopefully at least the Scion will be ready by Christmas - but the Swallow will not be far behind
As usual a departure from The "heavy iron" but both in my opinion beautiful peices of work
Brian Horsey has as usual worked on the Flight files to make them joys to fly -- Just dont expect to go anywhere quickly
Seasons Greetings for Rob English and the folks at the Pond

I think that FGE is on Peter Watkins list of paints when he gets the textures from Paul - I think Paul's done a bang up job on it - the only outstanding
problem is finding a Pobjoy sound set - Of course when we do there are several other aircraft it can be applied to
Ted Cooks Comper Swift, Jens Monospar

and of course the Scion

Well if Paul has done as good a job as with his train sim products it is bound to be brilliant.

I havn't seen any of Pauls Train stuff - but the Swallow is a gorgeous piece of work - He is a stickler for detail == whats odd is that He and Dave developed
the same powerpant independently - The prop on the Swallow and the Scion (and the Swift) were identical - large heavy props for the gearing on the Pobjoy
I was laughing because both props (the Scions and the Swallow look indentical) I think Pauls biggest concern was the number of polys he's used. One of his
train mates did the engine and that is inself a work of art.
Pete - The problem is the Klemm version used either a Hirth in line or that rather nice little ungeared radial that was used in the Sieglitz - The Pobjoy
being a geared engine has a very unique sound -- John Etheridge who used to maintain the Shuttleworths Swallow in the sixties referred to it as
a "demented sewing machine" and he was very correct - when its running you can here all the valves and tappets clicking away. Hopefully Don Putnam
will have some luck getting recordings of the Swallow and Swift at Old Warden which will act as a base for sound sets for several models, Ive been
using a sound set from the Velie Monocoupe which having a 90Hp LeBlond sounds close-ish

Sorry to bump this up
Short Scion is now available at
http://www.classicbritishfiles.com along with a really nice Pembroke repaint by Jaap De Baare
Also the float version of the Scion is in beta -- as soon as Dave remembers to put the drain plugs back in the floats

Still a bit of a way off yet, lots of texture files to complete and cockpits to make - probably not ready by Christmas.
I have also been sorting out bump map problems with the 3D canvas export program.
I think the bump mapping is OK now the main diffuse texture is plain grey - all the shading effects are due to specular and bump mapping.

Looking good Paul ;-) Don't forget to deepen the wing reg hyphen (G - A). It needs to be about the same depth as the horizontal line in the 'A'. Many of these fonts don't have that character so you'll need to draw a rectangle to the correct dimension then outline it
