Military aircraft identification - please

I have recently been given some pictures taken from a signal box in which I used to work, beside Radlett aerodrome. Sadly, the aerodrome was closed by the time I went there in the early 1970s, but several of these pictures show a military aircraft taking off.
Here is a close-up from the nearest view:
My interest in military aircraft is normally about -1% but in this instance curiosity overcomes that and I would like to identify the type for the captions. Not having any books on the subject to instantly refer to, I was wondering if somebody could give me a quick ID?
Many thanks,
John

Hi John
I can't tell you exactly which aircraft it is but I can tell you that it's a HP Victor bomber ;-)

Wow! An answer in six minutes certainly takes the biscuit - thanks very much Dave. The type was all i wanted, when I said ID I didn't mean any more than that.
Best wishes,
John

Actually it has just turned and is about to roar off down the runway in a cloud of dust/smoke and lift off in what seems to me to be a remarkably short distance, albeit not much more than a dot in the pictures.

[correction - just about to turn - JH]

Oh, I don't doubt that at all John. Light.. these things had very impressive performance as did the Vulcan ;-)

yep, empty they had a pretty smart turn of speed, @ 1980
I remember seeing a Vulcan and Victor both leave St Athan at the same time to rtb after overhaul,
Victor took off first, then Vulcan, they joined up in formation for the customary high-speed fly-by and the Victor overtook the Vulcan in the climb-out.

not to be picky but it's a tanker, not a bomber
looks like a 55 or 57sqn HP victor K2 tanker,...might even be the OCU since i cant see the sqn markings on the fin
mmm no markings might mean is an SR version (recce)...these ended up as tankers as well..eventually.
thier used to be a K1 used by the OCU...that made the trident look like a Vstol aircraft LoL...big..big difference in engine power between K1 and K2. used to be a vulcan with a HDU sat on the airfield also for flight refuelling...
somewhere in the eastern province..i mean countys...oh all right.. Marham

You can just imagine it can't you.. 'We gonna find parking space here??'
Bob.. I can't see refuelling pods on that shot mate hence me thinking it was a bomber (B.2). K.2's had nice orange stripes down the side of the pods as far as I can remember.. something definately not visible.. not even with my glasses on

That said.. I can't see the u/w tanks pokin' out the front either now I look close so it could be an SR. Whatever.. it's still a Victor ;-)
