That's lovely, Tony. Very nice indeed
I used to fly to Honolulu in VC10s in the 70s, en route from Los Angeles to Fiji. In fact that was the flight number BA591 (Westbound) that inspired my forum username (a tenuous bit of one-upmanship, but the best I can do at the mo!

). Perhaps when Leif retires we can have a forum outing there to visit him?

You will all be welcome Ian
I'm looking forward to that move, Westbound? -- Last time I went through there was a BA777 in transit at PHNL -
the 1011 reference is rather nice -- Delta used to be kind enough to allow me to hitchhike to Maui almost every week
when my wife and I were dating - outbound from Atlanta through LA to Maui - the swansong for Deltas 1011-500s

Then back via LAS or PHX on ATA's 1011 or 757 - the 757 could get out of Maui nonstop - the 1011 had to tech stop PHNL
everytime - Techy even got the arrival correct - looks like 4R - which unless the wind restricts it is the preferred arrival runway in the Morning it keeps noise away from downtown Honolulu and the sleeping tourists.!!!

Cheers, Tony

Looks like she's running a bit late :-(
Westbound BA591 used to get in around midnight and Eastbound BA594 around 0930. The hours were a bit unsociable but as it wasn't a daily service we usually got 48 hours off. As the next slip was only Fiji or Los Angeles we didn't have to worry too much about having hangovers and no sleep
