Hi Guys
I have used ASUS hardware in all my PCs for about 10 to 12 years.
Just noticed they now have a really usefull Power Supply wattage calculator system on there website now.
will still give approx the correct power you need even if you are not usingASUS parts
http://support.asus.com/PowerSupplyCalc ... uage=en-us
it loads quite slowly but very handy
Regards
Rick

Bear in mind that a cheap PSU will always perform under the suggested wattage that it is advertised as, sometimes to quite a large extent. Always stick with a big name when buying a new PSU and you can't go wrong.

Hi Chris
My last 2 builds have been using Tagan BZ series PSUs
I like them because you only plug the cables your using into the PSU and the fan is huge but very low RPM so they suit my low noise Watercooled PCs
Lates i bought was A Tagan BZ700
(they may well be rubbish but they seem to work faultlessly for me with very accurate voltage control)
Regards
Rick

Hmm, looks like I need a 650w PSU minimum. I'm using a 480w Tagan

Well its been going for nearly a year now and the temperature controlled fans inside it are nearly always on the lowest speed

Tagan's do seem to really do the job Rick, I've used a few in the past and they are solid little units.
I agree regarding modular PSU's as well, although admittedly I think they are all modular these days, it's hard to find one with the old fashioned "cables everywhere" approach.

Talking of Tagans, I've just realised what the free black gloves can be used for...
I'm just about to take out my twin carbs and strip them down....and I don't have any Swarfega
