Hello everyone,
I'm glad to have found here, this seems to be the place to be!
And even if one should never startup with something sad I have to report what I read on Peter's 111 site today saying that G-AZMF is now deifinitely awaiting the scrapyard:

Sad news indeed ..and XX105 is to be broken up as well

, the only 200 in the country and would have looked smart back in BUA livery
The owners feel it makes the site look untidy.......gimme strngth :@

I checked into the One-Eleven saga's today with folk intimately involved with trying to save both XX105 and AZMF and it's a woeful story. It wouldn't be prudent to go into detail on an open forum but suffice to say, both aircraft had more than a good chance of survival (105 especially) and a small group of people were trying their hardest to see that these airframes were saved. However, double talk from other parties has virtually sealed the fate of MF (the contract for her destruction is to be signed next week by ASI) and the poor folk looking after 105 thought the aircraft had already been donated :o Let's hope a similar fate isn't a signature away for 105 :-(

Hi again and thanks for your words,
it is a sad sight indeed to see how fast the OneEleven vanished from the skies. Makes me wonder what would have happened if RR would have agreed to use their Tay engine for a successor instead of keeping it exclusive for the Fokker 100. I still do believe the "pocket rocket" would have been the better airframe for that engine, I still do believe their hadn't been a plus-100-PAX jet more versatile and reliable - not in the 80s. And I still do NOT understand how company managers remain "airworthy" after fatally drawing the wrong decisions - but this seems to be a phenomenon that crosses industry lines from time to time...

Is the Boscombe Down aviation collection the same thing as the museum that's there? I've seen 105 sitting forlorn there, but just thought it was there as a spares source, not an exibit. Hope she's saved.

Another good example of the apathy for history
Maybe in 50 years time when they have all been scrapped someone will want one and then they will try and rebuild surviving chunks
Disgusting as it was there and complete for the taking.....any money needed would be a fraction of a restorstion of a hulk in the future...so little foresight
The paragraph about Hurn production says it all :-(

It's been said before on here,(and no doubt Garry will drop in to add wot I've missed) but problem wasn't with Rolls-Royce per se, but Bae, who as the type certificate holder,refused to release final data necessary for the conversion supplemental type cert to be finalised, so as to avoid affecting sales of the Bae 146, for which a re-engined 1-11 would have been a major competitor.
Conversions were initially to be done on new build airframes by Romaero, with the full backing of both RR and Bae, and Honeywell as Avionics partner, and designated as Romaero 1-11-2400 and 1-11-2500 . these aircraft would be flown 'green' to UK for completion and avionics uppgrades to be done by Lovaux.
After the collapse of launch customer Associated Aerospace and subsequent cancellation of the 'new build' project, Dee-Howard Company, as designer of the engine installation (pylon,nacelle,thrust reverser and airframe interface for the Tay engine) took the project on intending to offer chapter III 'noise' conversions to existing jets.
The legal battle between Dee-Howard and Bae rumbled on for some time after 1991 (when Bae pulled the plug) , incidentally,fist flight of a Tay engined 1-11 was 2nd July 1990
