Hermes

Now it's been released will we be getting the Hermes. It is British, and a classic.

Hi Simon :wave:

It is most certainly both Classic and British and thus falls directly into our sphere of operation. I've not spoken to John about it yet but all things considered, it could well find it's way onto the fleet. Have you tried the model and if so, are you happy enough to fly it for hours on end?? This isn't a double edged question.. I've not pulled the model yet and am keen to know what you think of it ;-)

Hello Mate..

I believe it HAS been considered before in a previous version. Can't remember if it was a JBK model or not but I'm pretty certain the general concensus was that we could 'do without it' for a while longer ;-)

Yep.. that rings a bell. Had all the necessary bit's been in place, I'm sure we'd probably have em in service already but the one available when we looked was a little lacking. Fine for AI but not what we were looking for ;-)

Not flown it for hours yet, although I have flown it. Changed the sound package to the Hercules as it comes with the default DC3. When I have the time I will do a flight of a couple of hours and see what happens.

I flew the plane from KSEA to KTTD. I followed the Kneeboard details. I started off woth 100% Fuel. I set a flight level of 16000' but did not reach this. I climbed at 500' per minute.

Distance was 114nm but add several more for ATC directions. Fuel used was 1566lbs. I haven't had much time for flying. I will continue to KSFO on next flight. Trouble is I don't know operational height and climb and descent.

What is meant by cowl flaps cracked.

Hi Simon,

Cowl flaps are for engine cooling. There should be a selector there somewhere or you can assign a key for cowl flaps to open/close incrementally. Here's a good pic of the cowl flaps open on a DC3, the hermes flaps are very similar.

Thanks for the reply. I did not make myself clear in my previous post.
I am quite happy with cowl flaps and there use. On the kneeboard tips it states in one section about using Cowl flap setting 1. That's OK as on the flap settings there is a setting 1. What is cracked and what would the setting on the Hermes be? That is what I wasn't sure of. I set them to 1 as I thought cracked must be a low setting and that's the lowest setting I could get apart from closed.
