Hello Peter. Colin's surname is actually Gronow. His website, is a condensation of Colin's Wales. He is very patriotic.

Colin is a member of the VFR Flyers, as I am also, and on sunday we will be flying a variety of WW11 aircraft around the wartime sites of southern England. We aim to be over London at 11.00 hrs, when we will pause the flight for a two minute silence. This will be the fourth consecutive year that we have done this, and with a little bit of practice, we manage to get in some sort of formation and be on time.

There will no doubt be some screenshots posted on the VFR Flyers page later in the day.

Dennis. VFR20.

My favourite aeroplane in FS! Nothing beats taking her up at dusk over Horizon's UK VFR scenery...

Doing the Mach' loop flat out with some Nirvana on the radio is also rather fun :)

Earlier this year I spent a weekend in Lincolnshire.
A local told me about Metheringham and the section of disused RAF Bomber Command airfield runway.
Particularly poingnant that poppies have decided to grow all along it's length.

I did a fast run in my car down this track trying to reach a similar speed to a fully laden Lancaster. I backed off as the speed reached 90 and the runway started to run out. Must have been quite an experince at night in a fully bombed up aircraft.

I then stopped off at the 617 memorial in Woodhall Spa

Image

a small stop at Scampton. Quite sad that I could tell these were Hampden crew by the number of graves for each plot. I guess most aircraft went down with the whole crew.

Image

finally a visit to Just Jane.

Turning the corner to see the Lanc sitting a dispersal, for some strange reason seemed more poingnant than the BBMF lanc a Conningsby.
