One for Dave B really.
I am toying with the idea of building a panel for the Valiant, so I need to know if:
1. The Brooklands Valiant cockpit is intact
2. I can take some photos of it to help me
Thanks.

Hello Mate..
Yes, the Valiant nose section is intact and still living inside the Strat Chamber. However.. there is a problem. It's been sat there in isolation for so long, H&S won't let anyone go inside due to radiation from the instruments  Makes you laugh doesn't it.. or would if I wasn't absolutely 100% serious!

How they're going to get around the problem.. I honestly don't know. I suppose they'll send bod's in wearing wierd suits to remove the instruments. The darned thing needs to be out and about and open to the general public.. not sat doing JS in the dark :-(
I'll make some enquiries next week but for now.. there is definately no access I'm afraid.

Thanks for that Dave.
Makes me laugh about the radio active instruments when the dials were painted by hand. To get a finer point on the brush the painters used to lick the end of it!
Good ol' elf & sayftee.
B****cks to the lot of them, just jobsworths who answered an ad in the Guardian.

I guess you have already seen these Scorpius. They are the only pictures I know about.

Thankyou Bob, the pics are useful but the devil lies in the detail with what the switches actually do and finding good shots of the overhead and pedestal are the key.

Scorpious..
I just happen to have a Valiant Flight Manual (purchased at great cost some years ago) which will list what most if not all of the switches are. Let me know what you want and I'll see what I can pull for you ;-)

Indeed
We're wondering how long till the H&S ones find out that a dangerous cockpit is open to the public...
XD875 btw.

Hi Dave,
Has anyone actually taken any readings to see if there's any radiation in there?
Regards
John
