Hi Chaps..
Another milestone hit this morning.. flight 1921 Emids to Rennes saw 2000 VA hours slip peacefully by and what better aircraft to do it in than Vanguard Merchantman G-APEP seen below climbing out of Emids ;-)
Seemed a long time coming this one as did 2000 VA flights but I expect to hit that one in the next month or so

Cheers ;-)
Yup.. kinda snuck up on me tbh. I've been getting the Argosy fleet tanked up (all done bar one up at Dyce) and fully expected to be at Luton (where I'd flown out of) rather than EMids. Thank god I checked the 'Check Flight' page on the FlyNET client for the return as I'd planned Dublin - Luton in AOZZ and was all set to go there!!

Fortunately.. that little embarrassment was averted and on landing at EMids, noticed I was on 1999.1hrs so it all accidentally fell into place
Couldn't say if I'll ever reach 3000hrs but you never know

Can we get a hint of your favoure types from your average of 176 knots from your hours and miles??? ;-)

Yes you can Jim ;-) Top of the list is the Rapide followed by the Vanguard

I
do have the urge for a little reckless speed from time to time (last week as it happens) and for that.. the Trident is my steed of choice, usually the 3 but last week, the 2 ;-) There are a couple.. perhaps a handful that I fly under duress (the Argonaut and Skyvan) both of which I think I'll let lapse and I don't really care much for the Islander and Trislander but at least with these.. the flights are short enough for me to deal with!

I'd not fly the DC3 as much as I do (and that's not often) if it were not for John's great selection of paints so most of those flights are done from the outside (it's nicer to see than to fly)
One thing's for sure.. I couldn't be a 'one type' VA pilot like DanKH.. it'd drive me completely mad!

Must admit I am getting a liking for the 748 at the moment (still no new joystick as yet) - so I just clear any winds and use the arrow key to pitch up, flick the AP on and hey presto :flying:
Not too bad on landing either, I've set space up for the wheelbrakes.
the only thing is, I can handle the bare bones scenery when I'm at FL380 and xxxkts, and just land at selected airports, but the add-on bug does start to grip when you are 'lower and slower' as the saying goes

Congrats Dave, that is quit an achievement, and a huge milestone, i was suprised when i looked at my time and realised i had done as much as 242 hours, only an 8th of what you have done though. You make a good point about flying different types of aircraft i like to chop and change fairly regularly and find that all part of the fun of Flynet. Now back to jump in my trident i think.

Well done Dave,
Now you know what it's like to be cooped up in the sharp end of the vc9 for hour upon mind numbing hour, and I had to make a three course meal for four people in that tiny galley, boiled eggs, soup and coffee all in the hot cup, not at the same time of course!!!, no wonder I fly the Brit most of the time
Robbie.
