Just seen in the news section of the RIAT website
http://www.airtattoo.com/airtattoo/ that Airbus have offered to display the A380 on Saturday only. That, plus the 3 x F-22 Raptors demo team and the possibility of the Vulcan would make it a pretty special day out even without all the other amazing stuff!

Unfortunately Ian.. with Leg-ends the same weekend, I can't afford either both days off or the cost of both shows so RIAT is out for me this year. Maybe next year ;-)

Despite my fantasising, I am much the same as dave this year - I reckon it's going to be Leuchars only for me...... but without a doubt, I will be doing RIAT next year.
Still, the Vulcan *should* be at Leuchars all going well, and it'll be the first time I've heard her roar down the tarmac since her last display there :flying:
Being a Leuchars regular, the rain won't bother me....**

Just seen on the local news that the A380 will be displaying on Saturday 12th only. The RIAT website says it will fly just after 1230. The flying display starts at 0930 but the F22 will not be displaying until 1800 - so it looks like a long day! I haven't seen a time slot for the Vulcan.
On the Friday, which is not a public day, there is a 90 aircraft flypast for the RAF's 90th. That's what it says - 90 aircraft! HM The Queen and 5,000 of her closest friends have been invited. If you're in the area with a camera it'd be worth finding somewhere near the airfield to try and get a glimpse.
Details of the aircraft are listed here:

Anyone planing to go Saturday, better have advance tickets.
From the Air Tattoo website:
NO ON THE DAY SATURDAY TICKETS
Anyone planning to attend the Royal International Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire on Saturday, July 12, must buy their tickets in advance.
Organisers announced today that tickets will not be on sale at the Fairford gates on Saturday, July 12.
However, tickets are still available for both Saturday and Sunday from Ticketmaster as well as from selected branches of Barclays Bank, Robert Dyas and a number of Tourist Information Centres.
Air Tattoo spokesman Richard Arquati said buoyant ticket sales prompted the decision.
“We want to make sure that everyone who plans to come on Saturday has the chance to buy a ticket, but it is important to make sure we are ready and able to cope with the traffic.
We introduced day-specific tickets this year for the first time in order that we could monitor ticket sales. It is as a result of this monitoring that the decision not to sell on-the-day tickets on Saturday has been taken.”
“Our advice is: if you want to come to the Air Tattoo, buy now or come on Sunday when tickets should also be on sale at the gate.”
I think a lot of people may be rather pi$$ed off if they don't realise this

Saw quite a flypast of RAF equipment yesterday and can only assume it is to do with RIat. I am not entirely sure on what all the aircraft were but it looked like, a VC10 with a pair of dominies, tristar, E3 and C17 and I think other aircraft i couldn't see due to trees in the way, Quite an impressive site and sound.

Apparently, (as read on UKAR) 558 will be going straight into the display upon arrival to Fairford, and then land to overnight. Then, she'll take off on sunday, display, and then depart straight from the display... So this means........
If you want to hear her howl (as we all do) You'll need to be there on sunday.
If you want to see her land...be there on saturday.
(Mind you , if tickets are only available OTG on sunday, AND the weather is supposed to be better, AND we hear a howl, then that's 3 good reasons to go sunday!)

Thanks for that, Dave. What a ridiculous decision! I can understand that they feel that there will be too many people, but trying to enforce a rule like that at this late stage will be impossible. I'll wait until Friday for a final check on the weather and then either buy my ticket at my local Barclays or print out an e-ticket from ticketmaster, so thanks to Dave it won't be a problem for me.
But can you imagine how many thousands of people, families who have planned a day out for months, will turn up at the gates? They will need riot police to control them. And even if they are successful at refusing them entry, what about the traffic chaos as half the cars are turned back against the flow?
I think it might be worth going early and spending some time by the gate to watch the fun

If I was working on the gate, I'd seriously be thinking about going sick right now.

Howl? Land? Howl? Land? Why is life all about choices? Oh well, I don't have a choice as I have to go to Bristol airport on Sunday to collect the present Mrs Speedbird - so Land it is :kissu: Any idea what time she is scheduled to display on the Saturday, Chris?
Is it true she will be formation flying with the A380?
