Indeed Dave they certainly were spits, made me laugh. Great to see some footage of the J wellington Wimpy though.

Although out of interest how early did those Spits look?

I've replayed that footage a load of times Skip and it's really not easy to tell what Mk the Spits are. They could be Mk1's or any version up to MkV (V would put them too late for '39)

I'm fairly sure they are either mk 1 or 2 they appear to be have the two tone underside camoflage scheme of black/white or black/sky which i don't believe survived long enough to be used on mk v's though i could be wrong. Certainly no later than mk V though as they quite clearly have the assymetric radiator/ oil coolers.

Incidentally i recently downloaded the alpha Wellington, (along with the halifax etc) and although i have only done a short flight in it seems a great little addon.

Ah.. the Alpha Wellington! Can you imagine how I felt when I actually bought it :roll: Pity there's not one available to the quality of Ed Walters Lancs.

Indeed probably not something i would wish to splash out any cash on but a fair model of an important type that i am currently interested in, due to planning to build a kit of it in 1/72 scale.
