An amusing article in today's Times. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/u ... 144915.ece.

About a failed attempt to fly a Vickers Vimy from Brooklands to Cape Town in 1920 with a Times correspondent on board.
... the voyage was only a partial success, since it involved several crashes and the near-death of its only passenger.
The Captain's log is to be auctioned this month - it contains such memorable entries as: “Don’t know where the hell we are, but steering 12deg. on compass . . . Saw a large town thro’ clouds”, the log states. “Think it must be Paris.”
