Air Atlantique sent one of their DC3s up to Newcastle International Airport today as part of a tour to mark the end of the Dakota being used for Passenger Flights thanks to a change in EU law. It will be up here tomorrow too performing short pleasure flights (as today). Where it goes next I don't know. Was glad I managed to get these shots.

A sight and sound worth making a trip for! Let's hope it won't be the very end - I'm sure Mike Collett will be able to turn things around! :prayer:

Certainly was! It's there tomorrow as well so will try and pop up again the afternoon if the sun makes a showing.

I'm not happy with the quality on the first shot, it seems to lose an awful lot in down-sizing. Higher res version on my site here...

Yesterday, Tuesday, A Dakota flew over the City of London quite close to St Paul's Cathedral at about 12:30-!3:00hrs BST. Did not have camera but I was on my way from the 'wobbly bridge' to SP Underground, I heard the engines but only caught a glimpse because the high buildings obscured my view.

I flew in this grand old lady over my adopted home city of Edinburgh on Sunday afternoon. What a wonderful way to see this place.I just love this old girl. The demand for bookings must have been very high because I think she did at least eight flights on both the Sunday and Monday. Also a little bird tells me that it may appear here again before those ba$!ards in Brussels bring its passenger carrying days to an end. :@ EricT

Lovely shots. I didn't spot her today, but did anyone else in Newcastle today spot the Nimrod which flew allong the Tyne at about 1000ft at 10:50?

It came from the west and flew along very slowly towards the coast. :dunno:
