One base, nine aircraft. I'm guessing that was hard to justify at the latest spending rounds.
Be interesting to see if they move the CRC which I'm fairly sure has either only recently moved there or been upgraded.

According to the website, The Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team (RAFAT), also known as the Red Arrows. The Control and Reporting Centre (CRC) No 1 Air Control Centre (1ACC) The Mobile Meteorological Unit (MMU). Which is a lot less than some bases, and at least one of them is mobile....

True, but not actually MoD's concern when it comes to closing airfields etc. unfortunately.

All central Government Chris... having been closely connected to the closure or downsizing of several MoD establishments, it generally isn't an MoD choice, other than Government telling them they have to close X number of bases, so they get to have a think about which ones they can close. All a lot of b0ll0cks unfortunately.

Yes, but unless the rent covers the running of the airfield it's still going to be cheaper to close the base and move the Reds somewhere else.
