Saw the flypast on telly earlier, and very good it was too (although minor nit-picking, it was the wrong mark of Lancaster and the paint job was all wrong seriously if people are going to upload these things you'd think....oh sorry wrong thread).
However I'm starting to wonder if the RAF are now pulling random anniversaries out of their hats, 90th Birthday - ok fair enough, 65th Anniversary - well why not 60 or 75 I've never really heard of 65 being a big one before, what's next 82nd Anniversary of the Women's Auxiliary Balloon Corps?

Don't be too sniffy about this, Skippy - the very last survivor, S/L Munro, was able to be present, and in another 5 years that may not be the case

Fair comment Chris though I also agree with Skip's comment. They seem to do the same for the Spitfire on an annual basis :roll:

Let's not be too critical of these events.Just enjoy them while we can.Friends of mine went down to Derbyshire yesterday in order to see the flypast today.They sent me a text message to say that it was fantastic.Spit. Hurricane Dakota and a Tornado put in appearances all in the setting of the lovely Derbyshire scenery.

I'm not being sniffy/uptight/slagging the crabs off for fun but I do think there's a danger that the general public may stop caring if we end up with a flypast for the 67th anniversary of someone taking off in a Spitfire without breaking it. I know we're trying to raise the military's profile I'm just worried it's going to be counter productive in the long run..
Still 100 years of naval aviation next year so you're all amateurs at the end of the day...
