Design Opinions Please

For university I always have to gather user opinion on interfaces and such. I'm not a designer, but I've tried to be a bit creative.
How do you like this one?
This is a page design for a local museum and corporate venue.
According to their corporate guidelines provided by the client there is an image and colour linked for each section of the museum. Here we see the green and cannon image while the links at the top highlight in the associated colour - this time blue. Other links are an ochre yellow and orange.
If you like it I will come back to ask for feedback on usability (navigation, readability) and compatibility.

I like it, its easy to look at and is simple designed. I think with websites, that if they start to over design them it gets way to complecated to find whatever you are looking for...

Looks great to me Matt
As Chris says easy on the eye and clear without being boring.
The green and brown used are fitting to the subject again without being overbaring
I have a personal hate of overdesign both on the web and in magazines where they throw things in for the sake of it
Good design shows contraint and balance
I like it anyway

The colours are subdued and serious and evoke a suitable atmosphere for the subject. The layout is simple and effective without too much choice and too many menu headings. A quick glance tells you all you need to know and where to go to find out more. There is plenty of empty space which is what makes the content stand out. What isn't there is as important as what is. So I would keep the 'sub menu' and 'random stuff' uncluttered as well.
If the front page looks too fussy, people may not bother to look further. With a simple design like this you are encouraged to go into it to find out more.
I think it's very classy.
Ian

Thank you for your comments, they have been noted down =)
I have created the mock-up for this. It is only a single page but it is designed to be bulletproof - or display correctly in all browsers including the pain that is IE5.

If you have any comments about readability and usability or even if you think it is displaying incorrectly please let me know.

Well here's something where I actually have a bit of experience (I'm an ad agency creative director). That's an extremely good peice of work... It's visually 'clean', the communications well thought through and the colour palette well balanced... all in all an extremely good job
My only negative comment is that the 'Comandery' title looks, well, slightly wonky? Is that type within the 'app' or an imported image? Just make sure any fonts you use are the ones that come shipped with most PC's arial, verdana etc.
Kind regards
John
