Making icons

Here's one for a rainy Sunday afternoon. This month's PC Advisor has a reader's tip reminding us how easy it is to make our own desktop icons. You just have to open your picture in Irfanview, crop it so it's square and then choose 'save as icon file'. It automatically reduces it to 140x140 pixels and makes it a *.ico file. Of course the skill is to make it look good - so it has to be simple with very few colours etc. Being artistically impaired, I'm bored with my results already  .

Anyway, here are my first (and probably last  ) attempts. The top right hand three icons are my creations. I haven't zoomed the view because they look even worse bigger! I'm sure some of you guys can do a lot better.

Several possible answers to that, Dave.

1. It's default FSX scenery for the Manchester Ship Canal.
2. It's a little place I keep for the estate workers to have a break.
3. It's a retirement home run by the Berkshire LVA (they haven't told you about it?).
or..
4. It's a holiday snap from Bermuda last year (true :) ).
