Those are great pics. I haven't been so green with envy since Ed Walters went up for a spin in the CWH Lancaster. :@

I don't know whether anyone knows the film 'The Best Years Of Our Lives', probably one of my all-time top five films. It deals with three US servicemen coming home at the end of WW2, and how they deal with the return to civilian life. With thousands of men in the same situation, they grab a lift in any flight heading that way, which happens to be a B-17 heading for the scrap yard ( the parallels are obvious ). Its wonderfully evocative of the era, and those photos bring it to mind. Thanks 146 ! :)

Thats the beastie that was over here at North Vegas - the crew were servicing it when my son and I trolled up on a wednesday morning
the FBO girl let us out on to the ramp (courtesy of the company SIDA ID) and the crew let Tag wander all over it gratis - nice bunch of
guys - they were selling rides for 300.00 a pop I think.

Techy

Ryan Navion - lovely aeroplane to fly and flyin - built 1947ish - used the lamianr wing design from the P51
its rather like riding in a Sunbeam Talbot - all sort of sit straight up and away you go - Friend in Atlanta
owned one - we used to go around the brerakfast flyin circuit in Ga, Tenn,Ala,SC of a Saturday morning
always drew a crowd

I was going to suggest Piglets version Tony I have it

The really neat thing is the canopy - makes you feel rather fighter pilotish taxiing in with canopy slid back :)

Happier days :)
