three nights ago a boeing 737 of westjet slid off the main runways here in ottawa. there was freezing rain in the afternoon and the aircraft was allowed to land. during the latter part of the landing, the aircraft ran on to sheet ice and slid off the end of the runway and in to a snow bank. ( we have lots of snow banks this year ). no damage to aircraft or passengers.
then this morning a boeing 737 inbound for ottawa declared an emergency, flew around ottawa for 45min to dump fuel. full airport emergency response. plus extra from city fire service. the last report was it made a clean landing and taxied to the gate. no doubt we will get to hear more during the afternoon.
and here i'am thinking not much happens in ottawa.
