Dates for the diary

Don't have any connection with either the Yorkshire Air Museum, or the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre, but as both are home to machines close to my heart I offer the following news, for those that have not read the material at the YAM or LAHC sites.
YAM....their news section offers "During the season, a series of 'Thunder Days' will celebrate this centenary year of powered flight in Britain and the 90th Anniversary of the formation of the Royal Air Force. These events will see some of our big jets, such as the Blackburn Buccaneer and Handley Page Victor conducting live engine runs and the first of these will actually see the mighty Victor K2 doing rolling down Elvington's runway, on Saturday 5th April."
At the LAHC, more goos stuff. They celebrate the 90th anniversary of the founding of the RAF over the weekend 24th - 26th May.
On the Saturday
"Sat 24th - ‘Dambusters Day’- Commemorating 65 years of the Dambusters.
RAF East Kirkby back to 1944.
WW2 Vehicles on display
Two taxy runs of the Lancaster and a lecture on ‘The Dams Raid’ by Mr Jim Shortland, Dambuster Historian.
Trade Stalls
1940’s Dance Lessons and demonstrations"
The Saturday night there is a Dance. But for those of us with 2 left feet it would be a go round in circles.
The Sunday
"Trip to the Dambusters memorial at Woodhall Spa, meal at The Woodhall
Spa hotel (first 80 people only) and private viewing of ‘The Dambusters’
at the Kinema in the Woods."
On the Monday
"WW2 Vehicles on display
BBMF Flypasts (TBC)
Spitfire/Hurricane flying display (TBC)
Spitfire/Me109 flying display (TBC)
Re-enactor displays
1940’s Dance Lessons and demonstrations
DH Chipmunk static display (TBC)
Auster static display (TBC)
Spitfire Static display (TBC)
Mosquito Static display (TBC)
RAF Cockpits (TBC)
2 Lancaster Taxy Runs
Trade Stalls"
Lets hope that after the ropey weather we had last year & this weeks big freeze these events get the weather & the patronage they deserve. I know I shall be there somewhere.
Check the YAM site http://www.yorkshireairmuseum.co.uk/new ... p?offset=1 & the LAHC http://www.lincsaviation.co.uk/next_big_event!!.cfm for further details
