Carrier Trap...

I've rigged the 3 Wire system now and here is a launch and trap:-

Here is the launch as I'm catapulted off the end at high speed.

And waiting for a little more speed before...

...manoeuvring round to...

...crosswind and...

...downwind. Here I'm commencing the final turn.

I see that "Freedom of the Seas" is in the anchorage today.

And there is plenty going on as usual.

Settled on finals as I cross the long pontoon.

Over the stern and about to catch the wire and...

...be hauled to a stop!

Taxied in now for a Kodak moment.
I need a lot more practice as I have far too many "Bolters" :brick:

Nice shots (as always), however I think the Ark's captain is about to run aground, Peter!
As with almost all the shots I have seen of the Vixen, nobody seems to fly with any underwing stores!

right Peter , better alert the Capitan
the size of that wake says he's got about 40 seconds
before he ..

.....lands the carrier
Nice shots

Not sure about FAA procedures, but I was told that in USN practice, the aircraft remains in 'landing ' configuration while its in the circuit. Even after a bolter, everything stays fully down while it goes round for a second try.
And Airboatr is right; the Ark is about to do an impersonation of an LST.

Well with the power of modern catapults...I think I will just take her way off by removing the wake
Actually, I do leave everything out on bolters but did not realise that it is the correct procedure...I specially took up the gear there for fear that someone would say that I should :brick: EDIT...I see that it was not the particular sequence that I took shots on...Naturally I would not use full flap for a launch (just one notch) so the shots are correct really...or would be if I had remembered to bring the flaps in before folding the wings.
I will be pleased if I can get my success rate up a bit though

Excellent shots Peter, no way do I on touch-down come as close as that to the stern...No wonder I am bolting a number of times.
Nigel.

I would if I could find them, I've got the download version which doesn't seem to come with any, perhaps it was a mockup
