What!!? Jus a rant.

I bought my wife Sims2 Bon Voyage add on for Christmas. "Haven't you read all the comments?" she asks. :$ So having checked out the Amazon reviews, I find that Electronic Arts have changed the copy protection to Sony's Securom and there are lots of problems with it. Also on some Nvidia cards, the Blue Screen of Death is back. EA are working with Nvidia on a fix. Since we only have Nvidia cards, one Christmas present is being returned to Amazon as "not compatible". :'(

The copy protection on the game had been cracked in 24 hours but what amazes me is that some Sims2 sites are suggesting that the "safest" way (ie to avoid the possiblity of reinstalling Windows) for legitimate owners to run the game is to download a cracked version.

Once again the copy protection systems just give grief to people who have paid their money - no cracked version is going to include the copy protection.

I will be watching out for fixes to the Nvidia and Securom probelms and may buy the game later in 2008. But Electronic Arts are currently removing complaints from their bulletin board and are in denial.

Rant over.
