Great find Garry though I can honestly say that I have never heard of those cars!! But I do remember the Bubble car ones!!

Would worry me if I found that guy in front of me on the road as when explaining the hand signals he gives he got the turn right mixed up with the slow down.

Just one more comment.....would be interesting to see the Stig driving that around on Top Gear along with Clarkson.

I had forgotten about these until I came across this and then remembered from years ago.

Never saw one but like you I remember the Bubble cars made by I think NSU???? and someone else.

There was aslo a Messerscmitt car a bit like a stretched bubble car.

Too late, it's already been on Topgear, and Jeremy Clarkson decided it is the perfect car! Well for looking at news presenter's bottoms at the very least.

They did not let the Stig loose, but sundry newscasters and Jemery Clarkson did drive it round the corridors and offices of the BBC buildings (yes inside). The one drawback - no reverse, you have to get out and push it.

All that German aeroengineering expertise diverted to intricate motor vehicles.

My father swapped a Ford 100E Anglia for one of these. Just for fun! To go backwards you had stop the engine, play around with the ignition and then restart the engine which was now running backwards - so 3 or 4 (?) reverse gears!

Lots of one-off bits on it in aluminium - I suspect to keep it going, you had to be able to make spares. Don't remember what happened to it since I went off to university.

Edit Just seen AllanL's comment about "no reverse" - not true!

Great video! Are the Peel's street-legal in the UK? Without brake lights, turn signals, etc, I can't imagine they would be.
