The Dang thing won't steer!

Okay, bad tag line, but I found this off the home cockpit sim and was hoping someone could translate what they're saying.

Looks like they enter an auto-coupled approach and can't get it to disengage the roll channel, but it would be nice to be able to confirm it.

I agree there Chris, looks like the AP (or some part of it) would'nt disenage during finals. I am assuming the a/c was a Tu-134?

Enough said..

Hi Eddie

Seems to have three throttle...black and lower down, not those two white levers and three sets of engine dials

That and the panel number could make it this TU-154

I was thinking either 154 or a Yak.

Also kind of interesting to see how far off the throttles are there on final. If a US pilot saw that, the plane would definitely get written up for the engines being out of trim. :)

Based on the number on the panel:

Chris

From just sitting and watching - three times he had the autopilot disengage (the three noticeable "thumps" earlier on.
at that point the FE reached up to the right of the Capts head and did something - then it appears the FO is hand flying it
- then as you say it appears the autopilot looks like its performing a autocouple but the aileron channel is not working
and judging by the input the capt makes it is locked in AP mode. the bell is pretty obviously some sort of MDA/MDDH Altitude
alert although the first time I heard it I thugh it was a fire bell. I agree with you about the split throttles however 0 if its a Tu134 I wasn't aware they had autothrottle and from the throttle positions it looks like hes using asymeteric power to offset roll

The bells are the marker alerts (OM then MM), so no clue there. You may be right about the autothrottle, but I wasn't aware that the aircraft had 2 sets of throttles to be moved either. The other reason I was thinking Yak is because the jumpseat position precludes a flight engineer from being able to do anything up front although I've never been aboard a 154 to see how it's setup, the AN-124 has a standard setup where the FE has a sliding track that moves forward between the pilots just like most other 3-crew aircraft.
