...there is an old saying that "If you want to gain confidence in a new aeroplane you need to throw it about"...So here are some lighter moments from my initial flights in Dreamfleet's soon to be released Piper Dakota...

I'm sure there is a perfectly good reason for the grass stains on the top of the rudder!

With the Dreamfleet pedigree I'm sure it will do well. Out of curiosity, is there any particular reason why there are so many payware fixed gear single-engined Pipers about from the likes of Dreamfleet, Carenado and Justflight , and only the Saratoga of the retractables from FSD - who some seem to be less than enthusiastic to deal with? Is it a licencing thing? I'm just surprised that Dreamfleet choose to put out two Archers and the Dakota before producing one retractable, the upcoming Arrows. I know that market demands will rule for payware, it just seems odd that the market is so biased to the fixed gear side of the family.

A lot probably has to do with accessability to the actual aircraft. Many of the retracts are rarer and significantly more expensive to operate, thus it's harder to fund the flying required to get the needed sounds in addition to getting all of the on-ground items.

The Dakota modelled is Lou Betti's own machine in three liveries...The original "Bit Dirty" one as the aircraft was when purchased, the present rather smarter livery and the planned future livery. It was the latter that I was demonstrating. There will be a free download for owners early in the new year of a 200 hp turbocharged version and I will be fitting a larger engine in that one...also to be a free download from Dreamfleet. I have to get a special livery for that one :flying:

Yes James, as Garry says, Lou founded Dreamfleet many years ago...For the first time he has used a bitmap of his own face on the pilot model in the Dakota...Hence my storyline in the post

Don't know about that Jonesey...I would need to speak to my lady artist who airbrushed 1 and 2...It is a lot of work and she may not want to do another, but we'll see :think:
