Classic British Flight Sim

Today I thought I'd fly in some snow flurries so I selected the default Winter Wonderland theme. When loading, FS then crashed when loading the weather. I tried another default weather theme and same problem. I figure my default weather is a custom theme so I created my own with snow. Crash again. I tried this time with rain and the sim crashed again when loading.

If I select any clouds the sim crashes.

I've tried loading the sim with my default weather and it works, there only seems to be a problem when clouds are involved. If I fly around enough and the weather changes to include clouds it does not crash so I don't think it's a problem with my cloud bitmaps.

Any ideas?! I'm so bored of the weather!

I don't have any weather add-ons.

Check you have the "render to texture" option ticked in FS, if you've added compressed clouds (DXT3 or DXT1) somehow they won't run unless this is enabled. Try doing the usual and deleting all of your saved flights as well if that doesn't work.

You're absolutely correct, render to texture does work! However it has a pretty bad performance hit, in the weather (compared to turning it off again once loaded) of about 8-10FPS. If I do turn it off after loading though the game crashes later on when creating the weather in front. Aargh!
