Hi guys, took a flight recently and have started to notice a few problems with AI, firstly i keep having a periodic crash while at Waddington but more anoying is the duel AI aircraft that fly together and disapearing AI on both ground and air. Can anyone guide me in the right direction or give me some advise please?
Thanks in anticipation

Hi Chris,
Most crashes of this type are, as far as I'm aware, caused by conflicting traffic files. I'd check for duplicate traffic.bgl's for the area you're having the problem

Thanks for the tip!!! Ive used my Traffic 2005 compiler to recompile a traffic.bgl to see if that gets rid of the duel ai. Ill have a look at the files for around waddington...

Hi Chris
That may do the trick but as a 'final' check.. try doing a search for all traffic*.bgl's and see what pop's up. Different programs put traffic.bgl's in different places so it'll be handy to see where they ALL are ;-)

i found 3 traffic bgl files, 2 were the same i think but one was trafficloadsofnumbers.bg_ , same one but a .bgl and then the normal traffic.bgl... Ive moved the other two for now to see if that fixs the duel flights... its only on certain aircraft/flights too....
Nope thats not fixed it

Is the "normal" traffic.bgl the default traffic.bgl? I think the original default file is traffic030528.bgl
Do you remember what programs you have used, if any to add additional Ai traffic besides Traffic2005? I don't have Traffic 2005 so I don't know what it does with the original traffic files - does it remove all the default airline flights like World Travel and American Pacific etc., leaving the GA flights intact?
Before doing anything, remove the three traffic file to a location outside of FS so you can restore them if things really get messed up. Then you might want to restore the original default traffic file from the install CD (if you need help with that, just ask) and then re-install any programs that added additional traffic. Take it one step at a time so you can identify if the problem reappears. I am a little suspicious of the "trafficloadsofnumbers.bg_ " file - sounds like some program renamed a traffic file to that and may have added Ai traffic flights more than one time to one of your other traffic files. The "bg_" extension should not be valid in FS so that file should not be the source of duplicates but I would have renamed the file to something like "Originaltrafloadsof numbers.bak to be sure.
There are utilities that will find duplicate flights - I think AITM will but that has a bit of learning curve since the FS2004 version is a bit of a kludge on the original FS2002 version.
I had the problem you have (without any crashes) a while ago and found that I had inadvertently added the same AI flights in more than one trafficwhatever.bgl file. Deleted the duplicates in the decompiled files, recompiled with Traffic Tools and that fixed it.
If you need any further clarification (since I am not the best at explaining things) just holler!
