Classic British Flight Sim

Hi all,

I'm immensely enjoying the superb GR1/GR3 Harrier models from UK Mil - unfortunately, my personal favourite of them all - the FRS1 Sea Harrier - seems to have some sort of issue on my machine - hoping someone knows what's what.....

Basically, the GR versions fly like a dream (to me) - but in the sea harrier, any time I get within a hundred odd feet of the ground, the plane bounces up and down like it's attached to a piledriver. It only happens when Ive got the nozzles down almost to hover position, or when speed is below 50 kts if not actually 'stopped'. It happens as soon as I open the throttles for a VTO - even before the wheels lift - yet the RAF versions are as smooth as silk to fly.

I think I have ALL the UKMIL Harriers and find the GR1 the best to fly followed by the GR3. Both the FAS and FRS seem to suffer from this st.t.t.t.tutter at low forward speed approaching the hover. Why the GR1 is so much smoother I've no idea. The T8 stutters but to a lesser degree. Seems to be no obvious reason :think:

Cheers Dave, at least I know it's not isolated to myself. I'll make do with a few high altitude CAPS in the Sea Harrier for now

Funny enough, the GR1 *does* seem slightly more refined than the GR3 - not much in it, but it's there as you say Dave

Filled the Tanks to 30% and had a little spin from Lukla and managed to land on the top of Everest :flying:

Very nice scenery around there - a possible secondary McLeland field location??

I haven't realy noticed this issue when I'm flying myself... but the one I use as AI bounces down the runway on its nose one minute and tail the next... still looks good when its flying though.

P McC was giving some advice in another thread (can't find it now) about modding the approach / takeoff / cruise speeds all of which was very useful. They now take off and land on a sixpence, the only snag being that they approach at about 60 knots which is a bugger if there is other traffic, but should be ok on carriers and the like.

Takeoff is grand, again, they get airborne very quickly and accelerate away nicely. The bouncing is only whne taxiing.

Ahhhhhh.. rgr that mate. I may knock at your door for the modded FD at some point (though not yet)

I've mucked around with the recorder module, recording the FRS and playing back as traffic. Whatever is happening, it is part of the flight envelope, as it repeats in horrific detail
