Hi,

Just wonder if anyone knows where I can get an accurate pic of exactly what the shield is below the cockpit?

No idea John apart from it might be a Skyways Cargo Airline which is a different .sort of...airline to the previous Skyways.

Maybe something else it was involved with?

They did fly without that logo

Hi Garry,

Yes, The original Skyways Coach Air DC-3's were transferred to Air Freight Ltd when Skways CA went into liquidation. Air freight later rebranded themselves as Skyways Air Cargo. The shield was only on a couple of the Daks. Just can't find a clear enough photo of it and no success via googling so far.

Had a quick nose round the www. Found a little bit about a couple of Skyways DC3's that 'died' in the early 1960's... including one ditching.

Only other picture I found that may (not) be of use is this one

Hi John

I've had a look as well..nothing though :-(

It could be a partent shield or even that of a contractor that may have used them for a period.

Leif might know.... :worried:

Just about to post and see Bobs pic....a little better

Looking at it John

Do you think it's some kind of world cargo seal of approval or group recognition like IATA for cargo?

Hi Bob,

Thanks, got that pic as well though don't remember where I got it from.

Garry,

Can only make out a couple of words. Looks like ****?***** AIR *****?**** Association. Trying to google but is difficult. Possibly may be Baltic Air Charter Association but can't find any old logos they may have used as yet but they were around at the time the pic would have been taken.

Getting closer i think. Someone on another forum suggested it is a styalised badge for the Royal Air Force Association. Certainly looks like it could well be. This is the nearest image i've found so far on the many RAFA branches websites:
