First week at CBFS

Well what a week! After reading everything I could find on the rules and regulations of FlyNet I think I still managed to pull off fine examples of ALL the DONT'S.
Hope I didn't incur too much financial loss for the VA.
Seem to be back on track now and slowly rebuilding my pilot rating.
Just an observation, but I had expected more flights to the Canary Islands, I guess it wasn't such a popular spot during the 60s and early 70s?

We've all done exactly the same thing when we started out.
I reckon the airline can handle a bit of loss now and then
I would think the Canaries is a fairly late location for the package holiday. Probably late seventies onwards.

I'd tend to agree with Steve re the Canaries.. oh, and the other stuff too

We only tend to get 'twitchy' when mistakes.. the same mistakes, get repeated over and over again. You've managed to hit just about everyone you can get, though in all honesty.. some of these were not your fault directly (changing views in particular) so don't sweat it. The important thing is that you've found the holes and found ways to avoid them without losing your rag and giving up. As long as you're enjoying it, that's the bottom line ;-)

I haven't done my first flight on Flynet yet. Getting used to the Dove. Flew the EGNV-EGPF flight yesterday and managed to land before scheduled time and then with less fuel used than statedon Route schedule. When I get it consistently about right I will try a live one. What's ths about altering views?

Hi Simon
Please.. don't bust a gut with flight times
or fuel consumption for that matter. The Dove will give very different results between controlling the engines with a single throttle stick and using a mouse and adjusting rpm/prop pitch independantly and as far as times go.. the Doves routes are basically A to B and fabriacted by us so that it can be used as a feeder/hack so you can expect to be one way or the other. As long as you're reasonably close, that'll do ;-)
Johnny had/has a problem on his pc whereby if he changes views, the aircraft jumps as it redraws the new position. This isn't a common problem but a known one (although very rare as far as I know) and it's caused Flynet to record a takeoff and landing at the same airport. Of course, Johnny hasn't gone anywhere.. all he's done is changed views and the aircraft has bounced :o If you don't notice this when you change views.. you shouldn't experience the same problem ;-)

Nope....Teneriffe was a popular destination as far back as the early 60s - Britannia ran Britannia 102s then 737 LTN-TCI as early as 1965 - Eagle ran it initially with DC6s then Britannia 300s then 707s - Dan Air used the Comet and 727 from the early 70s Monarch ran Britannias
in the very early 70s of course all flights were into Los Rodeos back then. Lanzarote/Arreicfe was served but not as popular as Teneriffe. Court Line actually
ran both TCI and ACE with a 1-11 500 but I think if memory serves right with a reduced load OR a fuel stop in LEBL.

Oh BTW had a full on engine fire courtesy of Flynet on a 748 yesterday
Must thank Fraser for the Emergency checklist - worked just like it said on thebox

Hope I don't get an engine fire in the Rapide as the wing tends to disappear too! :o Had an engine failure in one ages ago. Neither flying from GCI to JER at 45deg
OR landing was a great deal of fun.. NO SIREE
