Have we lost a couple of 10's?

Hi chaps, was browsing the stats just now and noticed that on the Stats the DM puts up there are ony two VC10's showing ARVA and ARVB (the rest are Supers) is this correct? I know we had a bit of a fleet rationalisation at one point but didn't realise there were only 2 10's left. :dunno:

Hi Ben,

No, there have not been and will never be any rationalisations concerning VC10's so it looks like a few have gone walking again. Difficult to say if this happened as a consequence of FlyNET being hacked of if it's recent. John has the full aircraft database at home so I expect he'll be on the case when he gets back from the Lakes ;-)

rgr that Dave... I thought it looked a bit sparce. On another note I see there are a few abandoned arround the world (Supers) I know the rules mean they shouldn't be touched, but some appear to have been there for some time, should we start to retrieve these?

Hi Ben,

Well.. they shouldn't be touched under normal circumstances as indeed, they shouldn't be abandoned either  I usually have a trawl around and bring back anything that's not where it's supposed to be.. especially in cases where we've lost a pilot. The off station 10's will have to have their flights checked to make sure a pilot isn't still attached and the ones without a crew can be brought back. If any aircraft have no resident crew but the crew is still active (and elsewhere).. then the pilots intentions will be requested.

As you can appreciate, if there are enough of them.. this isn't a 5 min job

Ben..

Just had a look at the Supers and there are only 3 off station. 1 is the one you're flying.. another is where Dan ended before the server went down (ASGK) and the other is at PHNL and was flown there by Steve Gill.. who is now in EPWA with a Comet! What you gonna do with ASGG Steve??

Hi Dave... it would help if I'd read the dates proberly, I thought there was more than that, but on a second glance your spot on... only 2 out of place. :worried:

I'm sure that is all the VC10s we ever had.
I know we only had 2 Standards & 10 Supers sounds right to me.

If one goes missing on FlyNet, you can be sure it will always give a warning on the stats fleet page.
It errs on the side of caution - Occasionally since the new FlyNet server started up, the whole fleet has been temporarily reporting as missing, but that is some kind of bug in my program. :)

Steve seems to quite often buy a ticket & go flying somewhere else for a while. I'm sure he will pick ASGG up again soon.
Dan I'm not so sure about. I'm surprised to see he hasn't been FlyNetting with ASGK since May.
I know he's had trouble getting it working properly in FSX.

Tks DM,

I was sure we had more standards than that but not sure enough to bet on it  Likewise.. I was confused the 'warning' hadn't shown on the Stats Fleet page.. magic, or perhaps not. Not as it turns out ;-)

Were there any real shortage of Supers.. I might get a bit narked if more than a reasonable number had been dumped but there's no sweat with only one. As you say.. Steve gets around a bit and I'm sure he's not forgotten the aircraft at PHNL :)

I could have sworn ARTA was once in the fleet?

Hi,

Yes, we only ever had the two Standards for those that wished to fly them. Same operating 'costs' at FlyNET for both means the SVC10 is the profitable one whereas the Standard is @ breakeven-ish.
