Lufthansa just made an emergency landing at Munich due to problems with the landing gear....

I thought that all airline had grounded their Dash8's... but apparently not....

HI Dan

Those with over a certain amount of landings I think it was, were grounded for checks.

Perhaps this was not one of the ones that needed grounding or perhaps it was and cleared :worried:

Fly Be grounded theirs for checks and as far as I know they are back in service and were in a couple of days

I don't think there was any grounded until further notice order

Scandinavian has been a bit more restrictive then.

They are all grounded, until the gear has been replaced/repaired and firmly tested.

They will then re-enter into service as the repair goes a long, maybe already from tomorrow (erh... today)

From what I can get here the FAA grounded Q4s - and they are being released after inspection of gear

Horizon and Island Air were pissed

The FlyBe ones are flying again so it seems The CAA have not grounded them apart form the checks to be made first.

At least they had delays for a couple of days and now say they are back to normal

I have been seeing Q400 but I don't know if they are newer ones which were not grounded :dunno:

Hi Guys,

the only Q400's to be checked were those with 10000 plus hours (certainly in the uk anyway.) Flype only had 6 such aircraft, all of which have been checked following Bombardiars recommendations and passed. I imagine there will be a more detailed check for whatever they are looking for at each C check on the younger airframes. I wouldent imagine Dowty would allow the aircraft to fly with a serious risk, although to be fair, 2 inncidents in a few days is a cause for concern. I don't know the detail of the inspection program, but given the number of sales for the Q400, if there was a significant cause for concern, the FAA or the CAA would have grounded them without question. My understandinfg is the grounding was at a manufacturers recommendation. :dunno:

HI Ben

That ties in with what I understood and they were cleared after the checks.

I remembered the 10000 but could think if it was hours or landings.....It didn't afect many of the FlyBe fleet and a couple of cancellations and combining flight saw them through it on our local flights
