Carribean causes CTD

Okay, I've apparently got a corrupt terrain file in the Carribean. I have disabled all of my addon scenery (including the "Addon Scenery" folder) and still have a CTD at 15% load when trying to load an airport in most of the Carribean. This is true for both my Classic FS installation and my main FS9 installation. Anyone know what scenery file(s) cover that area in the NAMW folder and possibly could provide me with their copy of those files to see if that solves the problem?

Thanks!

Chris

I have finally found the programme that allows identification of the BGL associated with a particular location (TCalc). There may be another way but this one requires moving an aircraft in FS2004 and then reading off the BGL number.

My main problem is that "Caribbean" seems to be a big area. Is there anywhere specific you need to know?

And the files are in NAME (not NAMW).

Chris,

Also make sure that you do NOT have duplicate AFCAD files for the airports you are trying to load or fly over.

First, I knew it was NAME, it was a dyslexic or geographic deficiency moment

Secondly, it's the entire Carribean. I tried loading airports in the following locations -

Puerto Rico
Dominican Republic
St. Thomas
St. Maarten
Bermuda
Bahamas

I tried this on both of my FS installations. My Classic FS installation is about 95% stock, only having some 60's-era sceneries installed for the Western US and parts of the UK and Europe. I also un-installed UTUSA from the Classic-FS version to test if that was the source but it wasn't. On my "main" FS9 installation I moved the entire "Addon Scenery" folder into another area and backed up the existing Scenery.CFG before creating a "Base" CFG that included only the required base sceneries and nothing more. I stil get the failure, so it's a file or files in the NAME directory that is the source of the issue. As it's a problem with both installations I also think it may be a corruption in my CD as I attempted to replace all of the files in that folder with ones from the CD and that didn't solve the problem either, so if it can be determined what files cover the Carribean, then I can source working copies of the files from someone without having to ask for the entire folder.

Chris

Rather a lot of files covering that area. I'll try to isolate them and send them on to you ;-)

I have the same problem, only in my case, it's all of Hawaii. It will be interesting to learn what the cause of your problem is.

What Hawaiian scenery are you using? - there are a bunch of us who carry a full scenery load including mesh and terrain
for the Hawaiian islands (mostly Bill Melichars work) with absoloutly no problems

Still no good. Still crashes when loading the terrain. I don't know where this error is coming from... I'll try doing another clean install of FS and see if I can load to TJSJ from a clean FS9.1 install.

Okay, did the temporary "virgin" install of FS9 with the FS9.1 patch and still got the crash and I now know why - the error isn't in the NAME folder. It's in the "WORLD" scenery folder. When I went to re-install FS9, I got an error that it couldn't install the "WORLD" scenery folder completely. I am now testing to see if I can locate which files because it appears I'm missing about 20 files when I look at the WORLD.CAB file versus what's actually in the folder in my FS9 and Classic FS9 installs.

UPDATE: Okay, Ian, if you could help me out again and send me the following files from the WORLD/scenery folder (this is going off the CD's CAB directory for the folder sorted in alphabetical order) - demusah6.bgl to traffic030528.bgl (25 files). I think this may solve the problem.
