It looks mighty tight getting her from where she is there to the remaining bit of runway for the tail-ups. Is it that tight in real life??

Do you know Dave that is exactly what I was thinking, doesn't look to be much room at all.

I last went a couple of years ago when they had a pyrotechnic display simulating a bombing raid but never once did I explore the whereabouts of the runway.

They actually do the tail up runs on the grass part to the imediate south of the taxiway that shes standing on now... I would hope that her cracked spar can stand the bouncy bouncy of the grass she runs on... :think: For the Film/program of her they did take her to the runway whats remaining to the east of the airfield.

That's a mighty old pic Pete. JJ's nose art was repainted a while back when the real 'Jane' advised the Pantons that she never wore full swimsuits - only bikinis.



Dave and Nigel - it is very tight in there. As the regular pilot Mike Chatterton says 'it's a bit like a reverse Tardis - big on the outside but inside...'

Tks for that ;-) The 'tightness' I was refering to (Nigel too I guess) was physically getting her from where she's parked in the Google shot out to what's left of the strip. She hardly looks like she'd get through the hangar let alone negotiate the space in between those buildings. It obviously happens but there sure doesn't look like there's a lot of room left either side :o
