Hi Folks,
Is there any one that can create a 'Cartridge Start' for placement on the Naval Sea Venom especially and or other naval craft i.e Wessex, Whirlwind, DH Sea Hawk, Gannet and Sky Raiders of the late fifties as seen on HMS Albion. Can you use a existing 'FX File' and convert?
Ta very much

Hello Don,

sorry to hijack the thread, but while we're on the subject of creating cartridge starts, if anyone could make me a Canberra one as well, that would be cracking.

Hi Guys, I have asked the question in the Alpha forum. I'll let you know if I get anything positive. The Alpha effects guy is very good!

Keeping fingers crossed that Trev's lead works out...it would be VERY nice if we could see something like this. I downloaded some tutorials on modifying particle effects for FS but it scared the c**p out of me and ran back to repainting (kind of like modelling in FS for me).

Nice photo there, Kevin.

Hi folks,
Whilst serving on HMS Albion 59, standing at the wing tip of a Sea Venom at startup,
a cartridge start happened with a 'Low Frequency Bang' followed by a 'Whoosh' and a 'low Growl'.Now would any one have a 'wav' file of of any of these individual sounds, if so could you forward them to me at...seaflow at tadaust.org.au

Hi Steve.
Have you actually got a Canberra, I hope its a B2, I worked on them in the fifties on 817 Squadron.

Looking at the photo above you would need at least three effects (probably combined into one) per engine to get the smoke moving in the right directions. *-)

I did some work on the engine smoke for Garry's freighter a while back but then hit problems where the smoke looked like fireworks going off when viewed from tower view at dusk, dawn or at night. The problem was we were trying to use the smoke effect as a 'light' and that has issues in both FS9 and FSX. From what I can gather it needs to be called from the model rather than the [Lights] section of the aircraft.cfg file. You can't use the [Smoke] section either as that is for the aerobatic type smoke which is switchable with the 'I' key.

Can you not modify the smoke from the Sea Hawk Steve?
