BAC 1-11 500 Autopilot MAN-Mode not working?

Hi,
Let me first thank you for this really great airplane!
I have i little bit trouble with the autopilot, HDG, LOC VOR and GS AUTO is working fine, but the MAN mode does not work. When i am right, engaging the MAN mode should center the aircraft and turning the knob to left or right, the aircraift should do a turn with a bank angle from 1-30 degrees, but nothing happens. Seems to be that the aileron channel for this mode is corrupt, because i can use the yoke to do turns in fully enganged MAN mode. Turning the knob is possible, shows values from -30 - 30 degrees.
I have no trouble with a Sperry, YAK-40 or HS.748-autopilot, so i think the my system is working fine.
Any ideas?
Best regards and thank you again for this really great airplane!

Hi Stefan and welcome to the forum
I'm afraid it's been too long (I'm embarrassed to say) since I flew the 1-11 in anger to remember exactly the correct sequence but fingers crossed, one of the regular pilots (or even DM himself) will be along shortly to give advice

Hi Stefan
And welcome
It's working OK for me....just checked
I am not aware of a problem so there should be and answer.
One thing I will ask....if you are using the updated models did you change everything.
I ask because I do know of folks that did not change the whole package and there was conflicting configs in it.
Basically some updated the panel and the models but nothing else.

Hi Garry, Hi Dave,
this is clean install (Oct-Nov 2006) including all 8 installers from the DM-Website. I have never installed an older version of this airplane before. After i have found out the little trouble with autopilot i have removed all stuff and reinstalled only 111_500_20061031.zip, 111_PANEL_20061031.zip and 111_SOUND_20061001.zip to doublecheck, with the same result. Also i have tried the tutorial flight to make sure that no depency for the autopilot is missing.
Best regards and thank you for your help!

Great
Now we have that eliminated it can be looked into further.

Sorry I can't really help further.

Hi Stefan
The only thing I can think of here is that the PROCESSING gauge has somehow gone missing. That would make the A/P behave just like yours is.
Can you have a check in your panel.cfg file (normally in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Aircraft\DMFS Shared Files\BAC 1-11 Panel VC) & check if your [Vcockpit01] section looks like this... (the red bits in particular)

Some other questions to help narrow it down...
When on the ground, do you get a loud horn sounding if you open the throttles fully with the flaps up?
Is the A/P mode selection knob missing when you first load the 1-11 into FS?
What are the dates on the panel.cfg & the DM_1-11.cab files?
Is this in FS2004?
I've just deleted my 1-11 panel, downloaded & installed 111_PANEL_20061031.zip to check.
Like Garry, MAN mode is working ok here. MAN mode should be active as soon as you turn the A/P on & it should indeed do what you said.

Hi,
thank you for your really quick response!
- I have checked the Vcockpit01 section with a diff utility and there is no difference.
- I hear a warning sound for throttle more then 50%; trim has to be 1.1 - 4.9 and flaps must be 8 or 18, then the sound stops
- The knob is not missing
- Panel.cfg date is 2006/9/30, size 27,391 Bytes
- DM_1-11.cab date is 2006/29/10, size 922,941 Bytes
- It is FS 2004 with the 9.1 patch
Some additional ideas, that might help:
- I am using FSUIPC 3.75 registred
- The install directory is E:\FS9
- It is a german system (FS and XP)
Best regards
Stefan

You got me on this one Stefan, I don't know why it's going wrong.
The extra sounds & A/P knob being there proves that the PROCESSING gauge is running ok.
All dates, sizes etc. are correct.
Perhaps it's controls related. Is it a CH yoke that you've got?
The manual mode turn works by setting the aileron position within FS itself. It's supposed to override whatever your yoke is doing.
Maybe your yoke is sending its position more rapidly than the Autopilot is setting it (FSUIPC ?).
If that was the case, I guess you'd still have total control with the yoke.
Still, you mentioned that the A/P on the 748 works ok.
Assuming you got the VC version, the MAN mode turn is the same style as on the 1-11 - I did the XML programming for MAN mode turns on the 748 as well.
Have you tried the TURN knob on the 748 recently?
Something else you could try...
Take the 1-11 up and make it stall. After the stall warning has been sounding for a couple of seconds, see if it forces the nose down.
Or if you have my VC10 installed - the VC10 has MAN mode too.

Hi DM,
seems to be we have the problem solved. Have disconnected aileron and elevator from direct FSUIPC processing and have assigned them to "FS as normal axis". Now it works really fine :-)
Best regards and thank you again!

Glad to hear you sorted the trouble Stefan.
Can you remember if that kind of direct control is the normal setting in FSUIPC, or is it an optional extra that you'd switched on yourself?
I wonder how many other people may be seeing the same kind of problems.
Cheers
